Day 1
Arrival in Tirana
– Arrival in Tirana International Airport and pick up the rental car.
– Trasfer to the hotel and according to the time of arrival spend the day resting and enjoying local coffees and food.
Day 2
Explore Tirana
– After breakfast we will head towards Bovilla lake, to enjoy the panorama, hike on top of the hill (two options, long and short hikes) and have lunch in one of the local restaurants with plenty of choices.
– Returning we will visit the castle of Petrela (where our National Hero Skanderbeg celebrated his wedding) and enjoy the amazing panorama.
– Returning to Tirana we will visit the old mosque, the National Art Galleri and Bunk-Art museum full of documents about the work of Albanian police and intelligence during communism time.
– Will enjoy the dinner in one of Tiranas restaurants with plenty of choices.
Day 3
From Tirana to Shkodra visiting Kruja
– Will leave Tirana in the morning and head towards Kruja (1 hour drive).
– Will visit the castle of Kruja, the Museum and enjoy the panorama from the top of the castle.
– Will leave Kruja and head towards Shkodra, having lunch at Mrizi I Zanave a well known agrotourism site, full of local dishes and local brewery.
– Will arrive in Shkodra and spend the evening resting, having coffee or enjoying some free time.
Day 4
Explore Shkodra
– After breakfast we will visit Marubi museum, the Rosafa Castle and after that have a boat tour around the Shkodra lake to enjoy the panoramic view of the lake.
– Have lunch in one of many restaurants by the lake, to enjoy the fresh fish cooked specially in Albanian traditional way.
– Spend the evening sightseeing Shkodra and enjoy yourself in the local bars and restaurants.
Day 5
From Shkodra to Berat
– Leave Shkodra in the morning and head for Berat, the city of one on top the other windows (3 and ½ hours drive).
– Arrive in Berat and do some wine tasting at Cobo winery and enjoy the local food in one of plenty restaurants.
– Visit the old castle still inhabited, and check the old churches and local museums.
– Spend the evening sightseeing the city and enjoying the local bars and restaurants.
Day 6
Leave Berat and head for Permet
– Leave Berat and head for Permet (2 hours drive), city of flowers.
– We will try rafting the Vjosa river, one of the wildest rivers in the Balkans and enjoy the food in one of the local restaurants with very special and old tradition in cooking, also enjoy the local wine.
– After lunch we will visit some of the old churches in the surrounding and enjoy the afternoon in the town.
Day 7
From Permet to Gjirokastra
– We leave Permet and head towards Gjirokastra (Unesco site) also called the city made of stone.
– After accommodation we will visit the Castle (one of the biggest in Europe) and the old town full of history and tradition.
– Have lunch in one of the local restaurants known for special Gjirokastra meals.
– Enjoy the afternoon sightseeing the town and his many narrow stone streets.
Day 8
From Gjirokastra to Ksamil
– We head towards Ksamil (1 ½ hour drive) to finally meet the sea and spend one day in the amazing beaches of Ksamil.
– Have lunch at the mussel house to enjoy the special and unique mussels of Butrinti lake and then head towards Butrinti ancient city to visit one of the biggest archeological sites in the region with its amphitheater and many history.
– Spend the evening by the beach or al the local bars enjoying the sunset and the sea view.
Day 9
Leave Ksamil and head towards Vlora
– Leave Ksamil and head towards Vlora (2 ½ hours drive).
– After accommodation we will visit the Indipendence Museum, Kanina castle and then head towards Vlora river area to enjoy the local meals and specialties of the region.
– After lunch we return to Vlora and visit the old town and try some local raki at Komiteti bar.
– You can spend the evening walking the seaside in Vlora and enjoy local bars and restaurants.
Day 10
Last day in Tirana
Our journey has come to an end unfortunately so we will head back to Tirana (2 and ½ hours drive) to prepare our selfs for departure.
– In the evening we can visit The Leaves House (another communist area museum and enjoy local bars and restaurants in the old area of Blloku where the dictator used to live.
Day 11
Departure
Time to say good buy to Albania and head back to the airport according to the time of departure.
